Concrete Jungle Where Dreams are Made of....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEEai0MBnes

Once upon a time there was a girl. New to a city so big that she felt she would lose her way, not knowing anyone, losing a job and so one day she had the idea to start a blog. During this time she never knew she would make new friends from far away who were reading, always positive and encouraging. Supporting her through the many lows and blows - the bad interviews, horrific dates, lonely days and now the horrible experience as of late.
She never knew that friends from far away reading would become so dear.
She also never thought that finding a new job would take close to 2 years!
And never, ever thought she'd meet the truly nice guy she has met in a million years.

So today she finally got up and decided to stop hiding out in the tiny apartment and took a walk all around the busy parts of town. Sensing the energy, the lights, the feel you can't get from any other place, looking for inspiration, a reason to stay.
She thought of leaving this crazy town once again- but where to and when?
But then a recruiter called with some good news- an interview- a sign of hope maybe?
And then while walking alone through Times Square the Alicia Keys song was playing that really spoke loudly...

In New York
Concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothing you can't do

If I can make it here I can make it anywhere
That's what they say

These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Now you're in New York...

So she came back to the quiet street where she lives. Went to the river overlook and knew she can't leave here quite yet.
Back to her tiny apartment, to finally get back to her blog. Signed on to so many thoughtful messages it was the best she's felt in so long.
All from the blog that became a source of connection when there was none at all. It's the reason the blog can't go away quite yet, that much she knows...

***THANK YOU TO ALL****

When is the interview and where?

From your post, it sounds as though you got the job. If so, congrats.

I hope all the wounds healed.

Am I the only one completely annoyed at the song lyrics? My roommates and I have a constant argument that it should be "Concrete jungle where dreams are made UP" or "Concrete jungle WHAT dreams are made of" Just saying. :)

how beautiful you write your honest thoughts...how great that you share and have people who care...probably because you have been writing from your heart! i found your blog via "ocean dreams" and i love it! my mom and dad lived in tudor city in the late 40's, fell in love, married and moved to the suburbs to raise a family. i worked in the city and lived there too...our friends used to laugh because we said, "you can never have a great job, a great apartment and a great guy all at the same time!" i waited a long time, staying true to myself....and married the greatest friend/love of my life! trust in God and life will unfold in perfect order! good luck and good sprits and know that you have made a difference because you have shared with honesty!
